Aero L-29 R/RS Dolphin 2409 - History of the exhibit

The Aero L-29 Dolphin (NATO reporting name "Maya") was a military jet trainer that became the standard trainer of the Warsaw Pact states during the 1960s.

It was the first jet aircraft designed and produced in Czechoslovakia, its XL-29 prototype first took off in 1959, the last deliveries of the L-29 aircraft took place in 1974 and a total of 3665 units were produced. In the service of the Czech Air Force, the last machines lasted until the beginning of the new millennium.

Exposed fuselage comes from fuselage number aeroplane 2409, which was produced in the reconnaissance version of the L-29R, the machine was subsequently rebuilt to the L-29RS version (lightweight, single-seat version for advanced training).

We do not currently have any information from the machine service 2409 in the Czechoslovak/Czech Air Force of the Czech Army. If you have any information about the machine of this fuselage number, we would be grateful for their provision and help with mapping its history.

What will you see when you look into the cockpit of our Dolphin? What are the names of the instruments on the dashboard? Your orientation will certainly be helped by diagrams from the operation manual…..
